A Happy Sponsor

Last month, we launched our sponsor a woman programme, where our supporters can fund a woman’s education in Malawi. The first sponsorship packs have been sent as the women begin their journey with United Amayi.

Jan Jones was one of the first sponsors, and is very happy with the experience. Here’s what she had to say…

When my daughter shared a post on Facebook about sponsoring a woman in Africa to improve her education and, in turn, her chances of sustainable employment, I was immediately interested - I am an Employment Coach after all! I duly signed up (which was very easy through PayPal) and shortly thereafter received my pack. I was shocked to discover that my woman - Alice - was younger than my 19 year old daughter. My daughter has explained to me that a lot of the women actually had small children too. I was lost for words... to think that for the price of a few coffees per month I could do so much for Alice, and in turn, her family. What a great charity - I’m happy to be a part of it!

We are still looking for sponsors for the other women going through our education programme. It costs just £5.99 a month (or £60 as a one-off payment) to pay to give a woman valuable skills to improve her prospects. If you would like to help change a vulnerable woman’s life, you can find out more here.
